We finally managed to find a space in Islamabad that we think suited us. An obsolete restaurant turned into a failed plant nursery known among the community as a “cursed” area for any venture!
We started up using my horror and cult movie poster collection as our main decor. The furniture was on the rustic side, to say the very least but though whole rough & ready sort of vibe meant that customers would be focussing on the product rather than anything else which also suited us just fine.
On Election Night, 3rd February 1997, The Hot Spot Cafe is open for business which starts chapter 2 of our story. Chapter 1 ends with our taking our blackboard off on St. 60 and replacing it with a notice and a map informing people where we could now be found.
Luckily, it didn’t take long for our friends to find us.
